Match.com Survey: Teachers Make Most Ideal and Sexiest Valentines (onlinedatingmagazine.com - February 4, 2004) Teachers, followed by artists and then chefs, may be hot commodities on the dating market this February 14, according to recent Match.com research of more than 800 single adults. In the January 2004 research, Match.com asked singles to select the profession that made for the "sexiest and most ideal Valentine." Teachers topped the list with 12% of singles indicating they were the sexiest and most ideal, followed by artists with 11% and chefs with 9%. Lawyers scored the lowest, with only 2% of singles finding them sexy and ideal as a Valentine. "Teachers are seen as caring, dedicated and often selfless people, working long hours to educate our children and make all of our lives better -- certainly demonstrating a generosity of spirit that many of us find attractive," said Trish McDermott, Vice President of Romance and resident dating expert at Match.com. In other recent Match.com research married people were most likely to say that "quality of character" was the number one reason they fell in love with their spouse. Research rankings for sexiest and most ideal Valentine: Profession Popularity Ranking % Teacher 12% Artist 11% Chef 9% Personal Trainer 8% Firefighter 8% Business Executive 8% Writer 7% Doctor 4% Bartender 4% Police Officer 3% Actor 3% Pilot 3% Lawyer 2% Other 19%* * Responses listed under "Other" included professions such as nurse, scientist, librarian and stripper, but most who answered "other" indicated that profession didn't matter.
