The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria said it had acquired a Boeing 727-200F aircraft hull for one naira from the DHL Aviation Nigeria Limited.

This was contained in a release signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the agency, Mr. Akin Olukunle, and made available to journalists in Lagos on Tuesday.

Director, Airport Operations, FAAN, Mr. John Ezenwankwo, said the hull aircraft would be used for the practical training of the authority’s firemen and women in rescue operations in a smoky environment.

FAAN, it was said, took the delivery of the aircraft last Tuesday and is expected to commence using it for the purpose any moment from now.

Ezenwankwo said the hull, now at the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, would be moved to the international wing of the airport in due course.

Many of FAAN’s personnel have been undergoing local and international trainings to keep themselves abreast of the latest development in search and rescue operation and aviation technology.
