The Federal Government has dragged Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and the Nigeria Bottling Company Plc. to a Federal High Court in Abuja over two of its unregistered promotional advertorial.

Also sued alongside the bottler of the popular Coke drink is Equatorial Africa Limited. The government is asking the court to ban the two marketing creations titled, “Lift off and Win” and “Coke side of life.”

The plaintiff further claimed that the promotional advertorial was done in contravention of the Consumer Protection Council Act No. 66 of 1992.

The suit, which originated from the Consumer Protection Council (CPC), was filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

In an ex-parte application accompanying the suit with no. FHC/ABJ/CS/368/2007, the plaintiff sought for an interim order compelling the companies
